Terms and Conditions

01About these terms

These terms apply to every service offered by The Body Reset Space, to every person who books with us, and to anyone accompanying a client at the studio. By booking a consultation or a session, you agree to them.

If anything here is unclear, ask us before you book. We would rather explain it than have you agree to something you have not understood.

02What we are, and what we are not

The Body Reset Space is a private, technology-assisted wellness studio. We work by appointment, one client at a time, using four pieces of equipment: the Body Roller, the VacuTherm, Full-Body Infrared light, and EMS muscle stimulation. We offer three lines of service — Reset, for body shape and water retention; Sport, for recovery placed around training; and Toning, for muscle definition.

We are not a medical practice. We do not diagnose, we do not treat injuries or medical conditions, and we do not promise medical outcomes. Nothing we offer replaces assessment, diagnosis or treatment by a registered healthcare professional. If you have a condition, an injury or a concern, see a doctor or physiotherapist. Where you already have one, we support what they have prescribed and we will not contradict it.

Results vary and are not guaranteed. What any individual experiences depends on their body, their consistency, and factors outside our control. We will tell you honestly what we think is realistic, and we will tell you if we think a service is not the right answer for what you want.

03Who may use our equipment

Nobody under the age of eighteen may use any of our equipment. This is a requirement set by the equipment manufacturers, not a studio preference, and there is no exception. We cannot accept a booking for a minor, with or without parental consent.

Each machine carries its own restrictions, set by its manufacturer. These are not matters of judgement. Where a restriction applies we will not proceed, and we will explain what else might suit you instead.

Restrictions by machine

  • Body RollerAnyone advised by a healthcare professional to avoid massage or mechanical treatment; open wounds or broken skin in the area treated; recent surgery; pregnancy.
  • VacuThermA pacemaker or implanted electronic device; pregnancy; deep vein thrombosis or a history of blood clots; uncontrolled blood pressure or cardiac conditions; active cancer or current cancer treatment; fever or acute illness; significant varicose veins; asthma; joint replacement, disc or spinal problems; surgery in the last six to eight weeks.
  • Full-Body InfraredPregnancy; active cancer or current cancer treatment; photosensitivity or medication that increases light sensitivity; eye conditions where light exposure has been advised against; fever or acute illness. Protective eyewear is worn for every session and is not optional.
  • EMSOpen wounds or broken skin; heart disease; a pacemaker or any implanted electronic device; any metal anywhere in the body, not only in the area treated; cancer; infectious disease; pregnancy, breastfeeding or menstruation; recent major surgery; diabetes; stroke or cerebrovascular disease.

This summary is not exhaustive. A full screening is completed before your first session on any machine, and the manufacturer’s own instructions take precedence over this summary.

A safety rule that applies to everyone in the room

While an EMS applicator is running, anybody with a pacemaker or any implanted electronic device, and anybody who is pregnant, must remain at least one metre away from it. This applies to companions and visitors as well as to the client. If you are bringing somebody with you, please tell us in advance if this affects them.

Screening, and the right to defer. A “yes” on a screening question does not automatically mean you cannot proceed. It means we will assess it, and we may ask you to obtain medical clearance first. We may refuse, modify, postpone or stop any session where we identify a safety concern. We will always explain why.

04Your responsibilities

  • Disclose every relevant medical condition, injury, surgery, pregnancy, medication and supplement before your first session.
  • Tell us before any later session if anything has changed — your health, your medication, your pregnancy status, a new diagnosis, a skin or eye condition, or a new sensitivity.
  • Consult a healthcare provider yourself if you are unsure whether a service suits you.
  • Follow all safety instructions given by the operator, including the use of protective eyewear.
  • Tell the operator immediately if you feel pain, excessive heat, dizziness, nausea, breathlessness or anything unexpected. You may stop any session at any time, for any reason.

We rely on what you tell us. We cannot screen for something we have not been told about.

05Risk, and the limits of our liability

Please read this section carefully

This section contains an acknowledgement of risk and a limited indemnity. It is drawn to your attention here, before you book, so that you have a proper opportunity to read and understand it.

Technology-assisted wellness sessions can produce individual reactions that screening, maintenance, training and precautions cannot entirely prevent. Temporary effects that have been reported include warmth, redness, skin irritation, muscle soreness, headache and light-headedness. Serious events are uncommon, but no service can be guaranteed to be risk-free.

By booking, you accept the ordinary risks that have been explained to you and agree to follow all reasonable safety instructions.

To the extent permitted by South African law, you agree not to hold The Body Reset Space, its owner, employees or contractors liable for harm or loss arising solely from risks that were properly disclosed and voluntarily accepted, or from your failure to disclose relevant information or to follow reasonable safety instructions.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right or remedy that may not lawfully be excluded or limited, and nothing is intended to exclude liability for gross negligence or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be waived.

06Bookings

Consultations are booked through the booking links on this website. Sessions are arranged with Althea, in person or on WhatsApp, after your consultation.

The consultation is free. It lasts thirty minutes, there is no obligation, no payment is taken, and nothing has to be decided on the day. A consultation booking is confirmed as soon as you make it.

A package or a session is confirmed once payment has been received. Until then the time is not held.

07Packages, payment and commitment

  • Package prices are published on this website. The price you pay is the price shown at the time you commit.
  • Reset packages run on a three-month commitment and are billed monthly in advance. The first month is payable before your first session.
  • Sport packages are billed monthly with no lock-in. Race Week is a single once-off payment.
  • The Toning course is a once-off payment for a fixed set of visits. Monthly Toning options are billed monthly in advance.
  • Each package includes a set number of visits per month, stated on the package. Buddy and partner prices are the total for two people.
  • Any discount or promotion beyond what is published must be confirmed by Althea directly.
To confirm before publishing What happens to visits not used within the month — do they expire at month end, or carry over? Replace this block with the answer. Do not publish the page with this paragraph still in it.

Ending a fixed-term agreement early. Where you have committed to a fixed term, you may cancel it on twenty business days’ written notice, as the Consumer Protection Act provides. A reasonable cancellation penalty may apply. Tell us as early as you can and we will set out what is owed before anything is charged.

08Cancellation, rescheduling and late arrival

  • Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Message Althea on WhatsApp as early as you can.
  • A late cancellation or a missed appointment costs you the session — it is deducted from your monthly visits, or charged at the single-session rate if you are not on a package.
  • If you arrive late we will do what we can, but your session may be shortened so that the next client is not kept waiting. The full session is charged.
  • If we have to cancel or move your appointment, we will tell you as soon as we know and the session is not lost.

09Payment methods

  • Electronic funds transfer
  • Card payment at the studio
  • Approved payment platforms

Cash may be accepted at the studio’s discretion.

10How we contact you

We use WhatsApp for appointment confirmations, reminders and follow-ups, and occasionally for news about the studio. You can stop messages at any time by replying STOP, or by telling Althea.

Stopping marketing messages does not stop appointment messages unless you ask us to stop those too — but if you do, you will no longer receive reminders about your own bookings.

11Your personal information

We collect personal information when you book, and health information when you complete a screening or consent form. Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, health information is special personal information and we treat it accordingly.

What we use it for

  • Assessing whether a service is safe and suitable for you
  • Delivering your sessions and keeping a record of them
  • Contacting you about your bookings
  • Legal, insurance and compliance purposes

What we do not do with it

  • We do not use your health information for marketing.
  • We do not share your information with third parties unless you consent, or unless the law requires or permits it.

How long we keep it

We keep your records only for as long as we need them for the purposes above, and for any period the law requires. After that we delete them or remove anything that identifies you.

Your rights

You may ask us what we hold about you, how it is stored, who has access to it, and to have it corrected. You may withdraw consent for any use that is not required by law. Write to [email protected].

12Photographs, testimonials and media

  • We will never photograph you or use your words without asking first.
  • Consent for photographs or testimonials must be given in writing. Verbal agreement is not enough for anything we publish.
  • You may withdraw consent at any time and we will stop using the material. We cannot always recover material already printed or shared by others.
  • Consent to one use is not consent to every use. We will tell you where and how the material will appear.

13Right of admission

We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service to anyone who is disrespectful to our staff or other clients, does not comply with these terms or with safety instructions, or presents a risk to themselves or to anybody else at the studio.

14Complaints

If something has gone wrong, tell us. Contact Althea directly on WhatsApp or at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your complaint and come back to you.

15Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. Where a change materially affects an existing client, we will tell them directly rather than relying on this page.

16Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa and are subject to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
